ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE INFORMATION

Arrival days are June 27 and 28
Upon arriving on campus students must check in at the office located in the Main House. Check in time is between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. Foodservice begins with dinner on the first evening. All students are to attend the mandatory orientation meeting on Sunday, June 28. Classes begin on Monday.

The school van will pick up students that travel alone to the local bus, train, or ferry terminals. Please call or e-mail the admissions office before June 15th with your travel plans if you would like to be placed on our van pickup schedule. We regret the school van is unable to meet students at airports or other locations. Students needing transportation on other days will be charged a fee for school van service.

Please note: Arriving after opening day and/or early departures may jeopardize your chamber music placement and is subject to director’s approval for admission.

Departure days are August 14 and 15

Students must check out in the office and depart no later then 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 15. Lunch is the last.

Students arriving by car:

Meadowmount is 300 miles north of NYC, 145 miles north of Albany and 100 miles south of Montreal on route I-87. Take Exit 32 and go west towards Lewis on Hwy 12. Turn left at truck stop (Dixon Rd-not marked) and it becomes Redmond Rd. Go 1 mile to stop sign/T in the road. Turn left and immediately bear right at the fork onto Lewis-Wadhams Road (County Rte 10). Concert Hall is first driveway on the right and the Main House/Office is second driveway on right.

Students arriving by Bus:

Adirondack Trailways stops in Keene Valley, New York, 8 miles from school. Call 1-800-858-8555 for bus schedules. This is the only bus stop that Meadowmount will supply shuttle service to and from for students.

Students arriving by train:

Railroad depot

Amtrak operates between New York City and Montreal, stopping at the Westport train station (8 miles from school). Call 1-800-USA-RAIL for train schedules. The once daily early morning train departing from Penn Station (NYC) is usually inconvenient for students flying on the first leg of their trip, because it necessitates an overnight stay. For those students it is usually best to book a flight to Burlington, Vermont.

Students arriving by air:

Students arriving by air must make arrangements to fly into the Burlington (Vermont) Airport only. Upon arrival, students take a taxicab to the Charlotte ferry landing in Charlotte, VT. (Approximately 35 minutes and a $45.00 taxi fare). Students take the ferry to cross Lake Champlain to Essex, NY. Ferries (www.ferries.com) run every half-hour; crossing time is 20 minutes and the cost is $6.25 round trip. (Price subject to change: see ferry website.) Students are met by our van at the Essex, NY, ferry landing.

It is very important you do not schedule your arriving flight into the Burlington airport after 7:30 pm, as it would not allow enough time to make the last ferry that departs Charlotte, VT, at 8:30 pm.
If you do not have time to make the last ferry to Essex, NY, you should stay in Burlington and find hotel accommodations. There are no hotel accommodations near the ferry dock or in Charlotte, VT.

On the return trip, do not schedule your departing flight from Burlington before 9:00 am, as the first ferry to Vermont does not allow enough time to arrive at the airport for an earlier flight.
