Charles Avsharian

Charles Avsharian has made recital and solo appearances with orchestras, as well as chamber music performances at the Marlboro Festival, in Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. In addition,to solo performances, he has performed and recorded with the American Piano Trio.

His early musical education began with Elizabeth Green. Later studies were with Ivan Galamian at the Meadowmount School and The Curtis Institute and with Joseph Knitzer at the University of Michigan.

He has made notable contributions to the world of video music pedagogy by producing the Master Teacher Series of video tapes including volumes of Ivan Galamian, Josef Gingold, Donald McInnes and Ruggiero Ricci. As a publisher,he has brought out editions by the Guarneri Quartet and Pablo Casals.

Mr. Avsharian serves as CEO of Shar Products Company. He served on the faculties of both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. Mr. Avsharian regularly performs master classes and lecture/demonstrations worldwide on Ivan Galamian's teaching principles.
